Ever see the world’s smallest political quiz? The presumption is that it makes little difference if you’re on the left or the right. The significant issue is whether you are pro-liberty or an authoritarian.
Authoritarians are those who seek the power of government to impose their values on everyone else. The primary examples, katy perry no makeupt to include all individuals, are the social conservatives and the economic liberals, the two tiniest political factions in America, and the most feared. Noisy but irrelevant. (that means those who see themselves as PURELY social conservatives or economic liberals)
I’m old enough to have seen McCarthyism in the 1950s. Originally, it was all on the right. Today, we see the big government enforced conformity on both left and right, which most Americans reject totally.
Bigots, both left and right, spend all their time beating up on each other, each chasing different wackjob conspiracies, off in a corner from the real America which mostly ignores them.
When you saw Rick Perry recently screeching about conservative purity, you saw an authoritarian thug, the flip side of Nancy Pelosi. When you realize that most Americans are now swing voters, and we see the purity police on the left and the right, they look pretty pathetic.
On a more substantive level, neither one of them exhibits the faintest clue how to deal with the economy, or health care, or much of anything. But we may finally have the definitive argument for limited government — incompetence. Nobody can mange the monster both parties have created. It’s downright scary watching them.
Polls, even the conservative Rasmussen Poll, report that Americans have now given up on the Republicans also, presumably because the GOP has yet to show any idea of how to get the economy moving.
We need a Reagan or a Goldwater, and we get Romney and Bachman.
